Cordic To KRLA? Sept 25, 1981 - With Senior VP/morning man Art Laboe not renewing his contract with KRLA/Los Angeles, rumors immediately surfaced in L.A. that Rege Cordic would be Laboe's replacement in AM drive. Rege did mornings for many years at KDKA/Pittsburgh before moving west for a brief stint at KMPC/Los Angeles.
untitled Oct 2, 1981 - Lots of Street Talk in Los Angeles regarding KRLA. As we predicted last week, Rege Cordic (formerly of KDKA/Pittsburgh) will take over mornings from Art Laboe. However, what nobody figured is that Rege will start next Monday (10-5) with Art moving to another time slot until his contract expires on December 31. The rumors are that KRLA will be headed away from its trademark "oldies" sound more toward an Adult Contemporary format, which could put a lot of L.A. stations on the move to pick up KRLA's numerous East L.A. listeners.
So Soon? Jan. 29, 1982 - Rege Cordic, who came out of radio retirement late last year to replace Art Laboe in morning drive at KRLA/Los Angeles, has announced his resignation. Rege cited the long hours as being the primary culprit in his decision. He will remain with KRLA until a suitable replacement is found, but he wants to return his full professional attention to television.
