Local radio is getting ready for its own version of the Emmys, Grammys and Oscars with the announcement of the nominees for the Achievement in Radio (AIR) Awards. The 5th annual event recognizes local radio talent, along with news, programming and advertising.
Wendy King will receive this year's Lifetime Achievement Award. King, along with her late husband, Ed, hosted the popular 'Party Line" on KDKA-AM from 1951 to 1971.
There were more than 180 entries this year. Winners will be judged by a panel of radio, advertising and communications professionals from other markets. The awards will be presented March 2 at a luncheon at the Westin William Penn.
Proceeds from the event benefit the March of Dimes.
